Olympic target in sight for archers

TORONTO – The Canadian Olympic Committee and Archery Canada announced two archers nominated to the Canadian Olympic Team for London 2012 at an event in Toronto. Crispin Duenas and Marie-Pier Beaudet will represent Canada in the men’s and women’s events at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“Representing your country at the Olympic Games is the pinnacle of athletic competition,” said Beaudet, competing at her third Olympic Games. “I know Crispin and I will live an unforgettable experience in London and we are ready,”

“As an athlete, the most important drive has to come from inside you — you’re the one who needs to give your everything,” said Duenas, competing at his second Olympic Games. “Thank you for this incredible honour and for being included in this amazing team of Canadians.”

“Congratulations Crispin and Marie-Pier and welcome to the 2012 Canadian Olympic Team,” Chef de Mission Mark Tewksbury. “We are only 23 days from the Games and it is exciting to watch the Team grow as the Opening Ceremony gets closer.”

“Our Canadian Olympic Team grows stronger with every new nomination,” said Marcel Aubut, President of the Canadian Olympic Committee. “Wonderful athletes like Crispin and Marie-Pier help make this the strongest Canadian Olympic Team ever.”
