Bobsleigh team set for season

Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton announced Tuesday it will field a powerful squad for the 2012-13 campaign that will include 20 athletes hopping into three men’s and two women’s sleds on the World Cup.

Newly minted national champion brakewoman Chelsea Valois says joining a group that includes people like pilot and World and Olympic Champion Kaillie Humphries is a privilege.

“It represents the pinnacle of my hard work and sacrifices as an athlete,” she said. “It also brings me a step closer to realizing my dream of representing Canada at the Olympic Games.”

The crew will hit the start line for the season-opening World Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y., November 5-10, 2012. Canada will host a World Cup stop at the Whistler Sliding Centre, November 19-2.
