Ricker Rallies to World Title

The 2010 Olympic gold medallist Maelle Ricker topped the world’s best in snowboard cross Saturday by winning her first world championship title in Stoneham, QC. The native of Squamish, BC edged out Canadian national teammate and World Cup champion Dominique Maltais (Petite-Rivière-St-Francois, QC) for the title.

Maltais, the 2006 Olympic bronze medallist, improved on her 2011 World Championship bronze medal and finished ahead of 2009 world champion Helene Olafsen of Norway who finished in third.

Ricker is a four-time X Games medallist who now becomes the first female Canadian to win snowboard cross gold at the FIS Snowboard World Championships.
