Canada’s first equestrian gold medal

Canada wins gold in the equestrian team jumping competition at the Games of the XIX Olympiad in Mexico City.

The team of Jim Elder, Jim Day and Tom Gayford earned Canada’s first Olympic equestrian gold medal. Canada would not win another team jumping medal until the silver at Beijing 2008 and not another equestrian gold medal until Eric Lamaze’s individual jumping win also at Beijing 2008.
