USA Hockey names Sochi 2014 Olympic rosters

By Callum Ng

Canada has already named its National Women’s Team for Sochi, and the men will do the same January 7th in Toronto.

USA Hockey named both teams for the Olympic hockey tournament in February at today’s snowy Winter Classic in Michigan.

2014 USA Men’s Olympic hockey roster

The US is choosing its roster well before many of the other hockey powers.
Whether that is a good or bad idea remains to be seen. Either way it’s cool that members like Phil Kessel, James van Riemsdyk and Jimmy Howard were in the Big House to find out. (Assuming they weren’t told before).

It is also just the third time that the Games will be held in the southern hemisphere, following Melbourne 1956 and Sydney 2000.
