Canada dominates Belgium in World League

Canada won the first of two important matches against Belgium in World League play on Friday, beating the visitors 3-0 in Vancouver.

Battling for supremacy in Pool C, Canada won in straight sets 25-15, 25-21, 25-21 to pull even with the Belgians on 10 points from five matches. The two countries will go at it again on Saturday in a match that could ultimately help decide who moves on to the Final Round.

Despite the dominant outcome on Friday, Canada expects Belgium to be far stronger in their second meeting of the weekend.

“Obviously we know that Belgium can play much better (Saturday) but it was fun to play in a game like this,” captain Fred Winters said in a Volleyball Canada release.
