Diamond League: De Grasse first, Bishop third in Birmingham

At the sixth Diamond League event in Birmingham, England, Andre De Grasse and Melissa Bishop both ran season’s best times, finishing first and third respectively on Sunday.

A strong finish by De Grasse gave the Canadian his first Diamond league victory of the season, crossing the line in 20.16 seconds in the men’s 200 metre, despite a -1.5m/s head wind. Coming off the corner, De Grasse sat just behind the leaders, before a strong finished allowed him to edge out Panama’s Alonso Edward (20.16s).
