Canadian Olympians Give Spirit Of The West An Olympic Twist During Alberta Children’s Hospital Mini-Stampede Parade

CALGARY – Today, Canadian Olympians helped bring the magic of the Calgary Stampede to the children, families and staff of the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) as they participated in the ACH Mini-Stampede Parade on July 4, 2013 in Calgary. Olympians who joined in the festivities included: Lascelles Brown Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010, two-time Olympic medallist in Bobsleigh; Amy Gough, Vancouver 2010 Olympian in Skeleton; and Christina Smith, Salt Lake City 2002 Olympian in Bobsleigh.

Flash Quotes:

“This is a great event and I’m really glad to be here to support it,” said Lascelles Brown, three-time Olympian and two-time Olympic medallist. “These kids and their families go through so much and are so brave. They totally deserve a parade and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

“Calgary’s a big city with an even bigger heart and this parade is just another example of that heart in action,” said Amy Gough, Vancouver 2010 Olympian. “Anything we can do to bring some joy and hope to these children is a great idea and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”
