Canadian Olympic Committee Congratulates Alexandre Despatie On New Hosting Duties

MONTREAL –  Today, the Canadian Olympic Committee released the following statement in response to yesterday’s announcement that three-time world champion and two-time Olympic silver medallist (Athens 2004, Beijing 2008) Alexandre Despatie will co-host City Montreal’s morning show Breakfast Television, launching August 26th, 2013.

“Alexandre Despatie is a prime example of why Olympians are our nation’s greatest assets and the best-possible role models for our nation’s youth. In the many, many years I have known Alex, he has consistently impressed me with his commitment, drive and leadership both on and off the field of play. Montrealers will truly be waking up to someone very special starting this August. On behalf of the Canadian Olympic Committee, I offer my heartfelt congratulations to Alex on this wonderful career opportunity.

Despatie is a Laval, Quebec native who made his international diving debut at the young age of 13 when he won 10m platform gold at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. In total, he has accumulated eleven Commonwealth Games medals, eight FINA World Championship medals, six FINA World Cup medals and two Olympic silver medals.
