TORONTO – Today, the Canadian Olympic Committee released the following statements following the Canadian Women’s silver medal win at the World Hockey Championships in Ottawa.

“Every time our Canadian women step onto the ice, sport magic is bound to happen and today, in front of thousands of hometown fans in our nation’s capital, Canada’s red and white gave their all in the gold medal game. While I know this was not the result the team wanted, I am very proud of our team’s performance at these women’s World Hockey Championships. This silver medal, as well as the performance throughout the entire tournament, shows that this team is a force to be reckoned with. On behalf of the Canadian Olympic Committee, I want to congratulate everyone involved on this silver medal performance.”

“This silver medal win is a tremendous achievement for Canada’s women’s hockey team. Our women were impressive throughout the entire World Championships, and their dominance over the competition grew with each passing game.
