MONTREAL – The Mayor of Montreal, Gérald Tremblay, and Manon Barbe, member of the Montréal Executive Committee responsible for sports, recreation and international sports events, paid tribute today to the Montreal athletes who took part in the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. The ceremony, which took place at Montreal City Hall, was attended by several athletes as well as members of the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee.

“It’s fantastic for someone like me, who trains out of the province all year long, to come back to Montreal and have a heart-warming welcome like this is very touching. It’s great to be reunited with my Quebec teammates.”

  • Andréanne Morin, Rowing

“It’s a really nice opportunity for us, because the City of Montreal did so much for us. We’ve been training here for the past six years and we’re really lucky with all the pools. We need to train about 50 hours a week, so we’re very lucky. It’s good to see each other one more time.”

  • Élise Marcotte, Synchronized Swimming

“I think it’s great because, at the end of the day, my signature in the City’s big gold book will be there forever. When the City recognizes how hard you work, it’s a special feeling.”

  • Kathy Tremblay, Triathlon
