VANCOUVER – The Canadian Olympic Foundation is proud to partner for another year of successful Gold Medal Plates fundraising events. The cross-country series of fundraisers continued tonight at the Vancouver Westin Bayshore Hotel.
“Events like tonight’s are so important because athletes need all the support they can get to achieve their Olympic dreams,” said two-time Olympic medallist Brian Price. “Tonight, the Vancouver community came together to show that they are unequivocally behind Canada’s athletes.”
“We will continue to build the Canadian Olympic Foundation into Canada’s leading philanthropic organization, funding sport and high performance athletes,” said Canadian Olympic Foundation Chair and Canadian Olympic Committee President Marcel Aubut. “Our exceptional partners, Gold Medal Plates, are a big part of that building process. These events are always first-class and a great success for our athletes.”
Canadian Olympians Tricia Smith (Rowing), Jaime-Leanne Cruickshank (Bobsleigh), Joy Fera (Rowing), Dorothy Ludwig (Shooting), Lauren Wilkinson (Rowing), Emily Zurrer (Football), Laura Brown (Cycling), Brian Price (Rowing), Tera Van Beilen (Swimming), Shirley Olafsson (Athletics) and Heather MacLean (Swimming) socialized with guests.
This year’s event featured chefs Angus An (Maenam), Joe Campo (The Westin Bayshore Vancouver), Quang Dang (West Restaurant & Bar), Mark Filatow (Waterfront Restaurant & Wine Bar), David Gunawan (Wildebeest), Lee Humphries (C Restaurant), Nicholas Nutting (The Pointe Restaurant at the Wickaninnish Inn), Darin Paterson (Bogner’s of Penticton), Jeff Van Geest (Miradoro at Tinhorn Creek), Taryn Wa (Savoury Chef Foods) competing to represent Vancouver at the Canadian Culinary Championships in Kelowna in February.
