TORONTO – Today, the Canadian Olympic Committee released the following statement regarding the sad passing of former Canadian Olympic Hockey General Manager and Assistant Coach Wayne Fleming, of Calgary, Alberta.

“Wayne Fleming was a true believer in the power of sport to change lives and he backed up that belief with action. Over the course of more than 30 years, his leadership, coaching and enthusiasm influenced and impacted countless young hockey players across this country. From the university rink to NHL stadiums to the Olympic podium, Wayne’s dedication and love for the game has left a lasting legacy on hockey in this country. On behalf of the Canadian Olympic Committee, I offer my most sincere condolences to his wife Carolyn, his children and his whole family during this difficult time.”
