Registration Opens For Rio 2016 Olympic Games World Press Briefing

RIO DE JANEIROWe are pleased to confirm that the 1st World Press Briefing for the Rio2016TM Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held on October 21-23 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.


The registration process for the 1st World Press Briefing is via an online system. To access the online registration form, please follow the link:

Please note that only registered participants will be admitted to the event. The deadline for registration is 30 August, 2013.

Rio 2016TM has identified two preferred hotels, located in Copacabana (walking distance one from the other), that will offer special rates to the World Press Briefing’s participants.

Hotel Miramar By Windsor

Single Room R$ 590,00 + 15% taxes
Double Room R$ 590,00 + 15% taxes

**Rates include: wi-fi internet, breakfast and gym access

Hotel Windsor Martinique

Single Room R$ 330,00 + 15% taxes
Double Room R$ 363,00 + 15% taxes

**Rates include: internet services (wi-fi in lobby, restaurant and solarium area; cabled internet in the guest rooms), breakfast and gym access

To reserve your accommodation taking advantage of the special rates you must book by July 31, 2013 by sending the booking form here  to Elsimar Martins ( or Ítala Alves ( from Tamoyo Internacional.

Please note that the special rates offered for the World Press Briefing will only be valid for bookings made by the deadline of July 31st, 2013. Also, the above mentioned rates have been negotiated by our official provider Tamoyo Internacional and they will not be applied if you book directly with the hotels.

Starting from October 21, 2013 Rio 2016TM Press Operations will be based in a dedicated office at the hotel Windsor Miramar. All World Press Briefing’s activities will be operated from the hotel office, including the distribution of the accreditation badges and the information kits.

Official transport throughout the World Press Briefing will be provided only from Hotel Windsor Miramar.

Entering Brazil

All World Press Briefing participants entering Brazil must have a passport valid for at list six months. Participants will require a VISA to enter Brazil according to their nationality. Please refer to the document containing the full list of “VISA Needed” and “Non-Needed VISA” countries here

If you come from a “VISA Needed” Country you need to send as soon as possible an e-mail to  Rio2016TM Press Operations at to request the invitation letter. To proceed with your VISA application process you will need to access the Ministry of External Relation’s website at . Follow carefully the instructions of the document “World Press Briefing Visa Guidelines” here and the Form Instructions Section of the website.

The Brazilian Government and Rio2016TM Institutional Relations Department will provide invitation letters for all participants who require a VISA. This letter, along with the completed and printed VISA Application Form and all other required documents must be taken to the Consulate or Embassy in your country.

Please be aware that Kosovo and Taiwan do not have diplomatic relations with Brazil. If you come from one of these countries please write to us for specific guidance (

All Brazilian Consulates and Embassies will be informed about the World Press Briefing and they will be prepared to deal with your request through a fast-track process. Nevertheless consider that the whole process may take up to 10 working days. We strongly recommend you to contact the Brazilian Consulate or Embassy in your country as soon as possible to allow enough time for the process.
