Regarding the Passing of John Wood: 1976 Olympic Silver Medallist, Former Canadian Olympic Foundation Chair

TORONTO – Today, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) issued the following statement following the January 23rd passing of John Wood, Olympic silver medallist and former Chair of the Canadian Olympic Foundation:

“It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of paddler John Wood: three-time Olympian; Montreal ’76 silver medallist; and trailblazer in the sport of canoeing. John’s passion as a paddler not only fuelled his own success, but also led him to serve as an example to others in his sport, through his work with the media, and in positions of leadership and authority in the wider sport community, including as Chair of the Canadian Olympic Foundation. Countless Canadians, on and off the water, have felt John’s impact and have been the better for it.
