Lawrence Lemieux

During the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games, Lawrence Lemieux abandoned his second-place position in the Finn class sailing competition to help another boat that had capsized. For his sportsmanship and respect, Lawrence was awarded the Pierre de Coubertin medal for sportsmanship, one of only sixteen athletes to ever win the medal, and the only Canadian to do so.
