For over one hundred years, Alpine Canada (ACA) has been the national governing body for 11 provincial and territorial organizations representing three of Canada’s fastest and most exciting snow sports: alpine ski racing, ski cross and para-alpine ski racing. Each sport has a different set of rules, but each athlete has the same goal from the youngest skiers to the world’s best; to perform at the top of their highest levels in a healthy, safe and competitive environment. Over the last half century, ACA’s athletes have done just that – winning 29 world championship medals, 12 Olympic medals, 91 Paralympic medals, 12 X Games medals and dozens of World Cup podiums. Its mission is to produce the best skiers in the world for Canada by providing support, funding and instruction at every level of competition, ranging from the very introduction, to the World Cup level.
This is a pivotal moment in ACA’s history and an opportunity for the next CEO to provide visionary leadership and new thinking to develop a national strategy to create a robust “pathway to performance” by accelerating the development of Canadian ski racers and positioning Canada as a top-three skiing nation by 2026. Building on ACA’s brand of excellence while enhancing the organization’s financial health through strong leadership, financial management, increasing fundraising and sponsorship, the CEO will collaboratively work with the Board of Directors and the Provincial/ Territorial Sports Organizations to develop and implement a strategic plan to propel the organization forward, positively impacting the sport over the next decade.
With a passion for Canadian skiing, and a desire to achieve strong podium results, the CEO will further establish and manage relationships with the multi-stakeholders to identify opportunities for engagement by the broader community to drive change and collaboration throughout the country, to make this sport more accessible while providing the necessary support to current and future high performance ski racers. The CEO will be an excellent communicator and will have the gravitas, credibility and a great affinity for leading and managing the ACA leadership team and other stakeholders. He/she will have P&L leadership, strong financial acumen, be a skilled fundraiser and able to operate in a complex, high-performance environment that is dynamic, hands-on and results-oriented. The ideal candidate must exhibit a proactive mindset with excellent relationship building and influencing skills as well as the ability to effectively manage through change.
