Be part of building a national brand.  Headquartered in Toronto, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence.  We are the largest private supporter of high performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including the participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.

To provide assistance with the day to day operations and logistics for the COC’s Olympic, Olympic Winter, Youth Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Winter Games, and Pan American Games programs, in the Games Department.  The position is a contract lasting 2 years (from January 2019 until December 2020).

LOCATION
This position will be located in the COC office in Montreal, QC, at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES
The Assistant, Games would assist the Games Department with various operational tasks. Some of these responsibilities will include:

Planning/Evaluation

  • Work with Manager, Games to support Games projects leading up to the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games and the Toky0 2020 Olympic Games.
  • Assist with delivery of COC/National Sport Federations Logistics Agreements
  • Assist with budget tracking and expenses (site visit, Games)
  • Assist with the Post Games Evaluation Process (planning and delivery of the Leads Debrief, etc.)
  • Assist the Games Operations/Planning Team wherever necessary

Games Preparation

  • Assist with Team Travel plan
  • Assist with Arrival & Departure plan
  • Assist with Transportation program
  • Assist with the Meal Allowance program
  • Assist with the delivery of Games preparation events (Team Operations & Preparation Seminar)
  • Assist with Insurance program
  • Assist with all Logistics (travel, accommodation, meals) for Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games

On-Site Games Operations

  • Assist with delivery of the Team Travel plan
  • Assist with Arrival & Departure plan
  • Assist with Transportation plan
  • Assist with administration operations including General Games logistics

General

  • Other duties as required
  • Identify major categories of work; focus on essential duties

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Education and Experience

  • University or college graduation in a related field
  • 1 year of demonstrated experience in office administration
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Sport System and Canadian athletes, particularly high-performance sport

Skills and Abilities

  • Time and priority management; ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects and tasks
  • Initiative and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent work relationships with the various internal and external stakeholders of the COC
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work some weekends and week nights is required
  • Sense of humour
  • English and French fluency
  • Japanese and/or Spanish skills are an asset
  • Must have a valid passport
