Reporting to the Program Manager, NSO Services, the Assistant, NSO Services assists with all aspects of the programs and services that are offered by the National Sport Organization Services department including the NSO Enhancement Initiative, Safe Sport initiatives, Co-Op Program, Leadership Lab, COC Recognition and on-boarding of new sports. The Assistant, NSO Services, is responsible for the coordination of the System Excellence team communications.

The Canadian Olympic Committee is seeking an individual who aspires to work in the Canadian Sport System, directly supporting the 56 Recognized National Sport Organizations in Canada. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual who seeks to understand the realities, operations and functioning of a National Sport Organization and gain experience in the Olympic Movement

LOCATION 
This position will be located in the COC office in Montreal, QC, at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West

CONTRACT
This is a short term contract until December 18, 2020

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES
(I) NSO Enhancement Initiative

  • Assist with the administration, communication and implementation of the NSO Enhancement Initiative for the Canadian Sport system. This significant investment aims to transform the Canadian Sport landscape to maximize functioning, increase capacity and enhance the 56 recognized National Sport Organizations
  • Coordinate the day to day applications, processes and reporting associated with the NSO Enhancement Initiative
  • Produce written, tracking and presentation materials related to the program
  • Liaise with suppliers and partners

(II) Safe Sport Initiatives

  • Provide administrative support and capacity to the COC Safe Sport Working group
  • Coordinate the background checking process related to Games participation
  • Track Team Agreements

(III) Co-Op program & Leadership Development Initiatives

  • Produce monthly invitations to the sport community
  • Support the development of the yearly plan for relevant topics of discussion for the Sport Community in relation to their greatest challenges
  • Track program registration and confirmation
  • Assist with the execution of logistics, content, communication, registration and post-event surveys

(V) General

  • Coordinate monthly System Excellence meetings and team communications
  • Coordinate the compilation of System Excellence reports for the COC Board and Senior Leadership Team
  • Coordinate the intern recruitment process for the System Excellence team
  • Maintain and update the internal database for Canadians serving on International Federations and NSO Leadership positions
  • Produce content, in the form of written text, power point presentations, or data sheets in support of specific project initiatives, as required
  • Help with expense claims, budget tracking and payment processing with the Finance team
  • Provide support with other members of the System Excellence team (including Game Plan, Olympic Education & Community Engagement and Sport Partner Relations), as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS
Education and Experience

  • University degree, preferably in a sport related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience, preferably in a National Sport Organization with administrative and coordination responsibilities
  • Previous experience and knowledge in Safe Sport is an asset

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Sport System, derived from direct experience with NSOs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects in parallel
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work in and contribute to a strong team environment
  • Ability to establish and nurture positive work relationships with colleagues, national sport organizations and other stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Docs
  • Experience with Mailchimp and WordPress an asset
  • Comfortable adapting to new technology
  • Bilingualism (English, French) required
