The Canadian Olympic Foundation is a national charitable organization created by the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC). The Foundation’s Mission is to generate philanthropic support to meet the technical, scientific, medical and coaching needs of Canada’s high performance sport system and assist Canada’s athletes in becoming ambassadors for sport, healthy living and the pursuit of excellence across the nation. The Canadian Olympic Foundation is the only official, sanctioned charity of the Olympic movement in Canada.
Established in 2007, the Canadian Olympic Foundation has granted over $57 million to high-performance sport partners across Canada, including the Canadian Olympic Team, national sport federations, the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network, and the Canada Games Council.
The communications team at the Canadian Olympic Foundation is seeking a competent, self-starting, passionate and hard-working graphic designer to assist in the planning and production of many communications materials, including (but not limited to): branding, digital content, invitations, donor proposals, stewardship documents, direct mail letters and other projects as required. The Graphic Design Intern will report to the Foundation’s Communications Strategist.
We are looking for someone eager to learn, listen and strive in a fast-paced environment; someone who loves making ideas happen and contributing as a key teammate. The right candidate should be able to prove both deadline-driven competency and passion for working with everything from raw data to donor proposal development to engaging digital assets. This person will have a positive attitude and feel comfortable professionally communicating with various stakeholders – from Olympic athletes to colleagues to donors.
- Must be a current student attending a Canadian college/university where an internship is required for their program
- Strong writing ability with solid grammar skills;
- Strong design vision and execution;
- Able to take an idea and turn it into art;
- Detail-oriented, especially with regards to accuracy of facts, figures and branding
- Passion for the Olympic Games and the athletes who strive to compete at them
- Competency in WordPress, PowerPoint InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator;
- Knowledge of the Games, their history, their sports and athletes a major asset;
- Competency in French a major asset;
- A vested interest in the Olympic movement;
- A working knowledge of HTML.
The right candidate will have the opportunity to create engaging and visually striking design content; help develop and execute strong brand assets and awareness pieces; create and execute all visual elements on our social and digital platforms; update and refresh the Foundation website; create visuals for our monthly newsletter STRIVE/BÂTIR, help bring to life events collateral and materials, creating templates and design elements for our Board Members and Board Meetings; and fulfill requests for other communications and events materials as required.
This internship is a non-paid position for current students. Relocation assistance is not provided.
This internship will be undertaken from the most advantageous location for accountable, interesting and clever work using personal equipment. Space and some equipment will also be available within the Foundation offices in Toronto, ON at 250 Yonge Street. Office is open from 9-5. Work hours are flexible based on the successful candidate’s educational requirements and the Foundation’s project demands. Graphic Design Intern should expect to be at the Foundation office minimum three days per week.
The internship will start in early September 2018 and the duration is negotiable although the approximate date range will be September 11 – December 15, 2018.
