Specialist, Content Creation (6-month contract)

Be part of building a national brand.  Headquartered in Toronto, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high-performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including the participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.

The COC is looking for a Specialist, Content Creation to join its Digital Team. Reporting to the Associate Manager, Content Creation, this position is responsible for creating dynamic video & social content to live on Team Canada’s digital channels. The Specialist, Content Creation is a team player who takes initiative in producing highly-engaging content while thriving in a fast-paced environment. This individual is an experienced storyteller with a strong grasp of optimizing and repurposing content for various social platforms.

This is a 6-month contract role, with a target start date of early-April 2023.

LOCATION

This position will be located in one of the COC’s offices (Toronto, ON at 250 Yonge St. Suite 3000; or in Montreal, QC, at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West). The COC offers a hybrid work model that allows for up to three days of remote work each week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES

Content Creation

  • Play a key role in the creation of owned and original content for Team Canada’s digital channels with a focus towards social media
  • Create entertaining, engaging and educational dynamic content for various formats including short-form video, graphics, animations, GIFs
  • Assist with the development and capture of content in collaboration with the Monetization and Partnership teams
  • Collaborate with Content team to ensure production is delivered on time and in line with the team’s objectives and strategy
  • Support in the execution of the content strategy
  • Optimize existing content using both quantitative and qualitative insights, and suggest net-new ideas aligned with the strategy
  • Constantly monitor the sports industry and social platforms and produce content for relevant sports results
  • Bring campaigns and content series to life by proposing, planning, and executing social media tactics
  • Align content to brand guidelines and style guide

Content Repurposing & Distribution

  • Support with developing tactical plans for Team Canada/Équipe Canada’s social media channels
  • Find unique ways to contextually repurpose content for our digital channels, including web, app, email and social
  • Provide social copy suggestions
  • Help schedule and distribute content
  • Ensure a unique and consistent tone of voice is maintained across all digital channels
  • Support the development and execution of the content calendar
  • Other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Media Production, Marketing, Communications or a related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with content capture in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of digital photography and video production
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Knowledge of social media best practices and trends
  • Ability to project manage and adjust to shifting priorities
  • A firm understanding of content repurposing and distribution
  • Experience publishing and/or managing brand social channels
  • Foundational knowledge of SEO tactics
  • A strong collaborator that works cross-functionally with Digital team members and other key stakeholders
  • Proven initiative and accountability (able to deliver on deadline)
  • Meticulous eye for detail, style
  • Understanding of Team Canada’s brand, tone, stakeholders, and target audience
  • Knowledge of Olympic sports and Canadian athletes an asset
  • Bilingualism (English & French) is not required but is a strong asset
  • Demonstrates and embodies the COC values of Accountability, Excellence, Fun, Respect and Bravery
