One of the finest hurdlers in North America in his day, Earl “Tommy” Thomson won the gold medal in the 110m hurdles in an Olympic and world record time at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp. He was the first-ever non-US gold medalist in the Olympic high hurdles.
