Medallists raise funds to fuel podium drive
CALGARY – The Canadian Olympic Foundation is proud to partner for another year of successful Gold Medal Plates fundraising events. The cross-country series of fundraisers continued tonight in Calgary’s Telus Convention Centre.
“I’m very proud to be here tonight, supporting such an important cause,” said 2004 Olympic Gymnastics gold medallist Kyle Shewfelt. “The funds we raise here tonight will help support so many athletes’ Olympic dreams.”
“Events like this are helping us build the Canadian Olympic Foundation into Canada’s leading philanthropic organization funding sport and high performance athletes,” said Canadian Olympic Foundation Chair and Canadian Olympic Committee President Marcel Aubut. “We are very pleased to partner with Gold Medal Plates on another year of first-class events, benefiting our Olympic heroes.”

This year’s event featured chefs Shaun Desaulniers (Belgo), Cam Dobranski (Brasserie & Wine Bar Kensington), Kyle Groves (Catch Restaurant & Oyster Bar), Eden Hrabec (Crazyweed Kitchen), Kenny Kaechele (Township/Canvas), Andrew Keen (Chop Steakhouse), Justin Labossiere (NOtaBLE), Xavier Lacaze (HOME Tasting Room), Justin Leboe (Model Milk), Duncan Ly (Raw Bar), competing to represent Calgary at the Canadian Culinary Championships in Kelowna in February.
Net proceeds from the event support high performance athletes through programs such as Own the Podium.
