Maryse Perreault

Canadian speed skater Maryse Perreault had four top-10 finishes at Calgary 1988 when short track was a demonstration sport. She finished third in the 3000m relay, fifth in the 1000m and eighth in the 1500m and 3000m.

Between 1981-90, Perreault won a total of 12 medals at the World Championships – eight gold (seven in the 3000m relay, one all-around), three silver (two in 3000m relay, one all-around), one bronze (all-around). At the 1985 Winter Universiade, she won a medal of each colour (3000 m relay gold, 1500m silver, 500m bronze).

From a family rich in speed skating history, Perreault began short track speed skating at the age of 11. She is the older sister of three-time Olympic medalist Annie, and of national team member brother Sylvain. Her nephew Nicolas Perreault was a member of the Canadian junior team.

Perreault was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1992.
