Kyra Christmas was named to her first youth national team in 2012 when she was 15 years old. The next year, she joined the junior national team and competed at the junior editions of the Pan American and World Championships. In 2016, she was selected to the senior national team and played in her first senior international tournament, the FINA World League Super Final. She helped Canada win gold at the 2016 Junior Pan American Championships in Edmonton where she was the tournament MVP. In 2017, she won silver at the FINA World League Super Final and helped Canada to a fourth-place finish at the FINA World Championships.


Getting into the Sport: Started playing water polo at age 7 with her hometown club the Prairie Dolphins… Seeking a more competitive team, she quickly joined the Calgary Renegades… Outside Interests: Studying sport management and playing water polo at the University of Pacific in California… Hobbies include hiking, traveling and writing… Odds and Ends: Was the only girl on one of her first teams and won a year-end trophy that read “Best Defensive Player, Kyra Christmas, Atom BOYS”… Favourite quote: “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed” – Michael Jordan…
