Biography

Logan Pletz is set to make his Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026

He has competed in three consecutive IBU World Championships (2023, 2024, 2025). Pletz made his IBU World Cup debut during the 2022-23 season. He set personal best results in Hochfilzen, Austria during the 2024-25 season when he finished 55th in the pursuit and 56th in the sprint.

Pletz first represented Canada at the 2019 IBU Youth World Championships where he was 19th in the sprint. He competed in the IBU Junior World Championships in 2021 and 2022. At the latter, he finished 14th in the 15km individual event and sixth with the men’s relay. Pletz competed in his first IBU Cup events during the 2021-22 season.

Pletz won gold in the 12.5km individual event at the 2019 Canada Winter Games after serving as Team Saskatchewan’s Opening Ceremony flag bearer.

Getting into the Sport: Began biathlon at age of 11… Has wanted to represent Canada since watching Sidney Crosby score the ‘golden goal’ at Vancouver 2010… Biggest role models in the sport are Doug Sylvestre, his former head coach with Biathlon Saskatchewan, and Scott Perras, who was influential in bringing the sport to the province… Outside Interests: Enjoys playing disc golf… Wants to start his own brewery and coffee roastery… Studied Commerce at Athabasca University… Odds and Ends: Favourite motto: “You are more capable than you give yourself credit for”…
