Syla Swords
Biography
Syla Swords is set to become Canada’s youngest ever Olympic basketball player after being named to the Paris 2024 team at the age of 18.
Swords made her senior international debut as the youngest member of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2023 FIBA AmeriCup. She went on to compete at the FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament in 2023 and the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in 2024.
As a junior, Swords led Canada to the bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup where she was named to the All-Second Team. The year prior, she was a member of the U17 World Cup team that lost by two points to France in the bronze medal game.
Swords has committed to the University of Michigan for 2024-25.
