Statement: Tricia Smith Named Influential Woman in Sport by CAAWS

TORONTO — Today, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) proudly congratulated its President, Tricia Smith on being named one of the 20 Most Influential Women in sport in Canada for 2015 by the Canadian Association of the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS). The COC also congratulated Olympians Chandra Crawford, Waneek Horn-Miller, Kaillie Humphries, Christine Sinclair and Hayley Wickenheiser who were named alongside Tricia.

“I applaud all of the women sport leaders in this country, and I am especially proud to see our President recognized by CAAWS for this honour. Tricia recently received a decisive mandate from the COC’s Session when she was elected President by a 67-7 margin last November, and since, she has been a tireless advocate for unity, inclusiveness and collaboration. Without question, Tricia is spearheading change for the betterment of the Olympic Movement in Canada, and her work is already having an impact in our community.”
