Alex Despatie has been a recognizable face on the international scene since capturing gold and Canadian hearts as a 13-year-old at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. In the decade and a half since then, Despatie has become the greatest male diver in Canadian history, highlighted by a pair of Olympic silver medals.
In 2012, Karen Cockburn competed in her fourth consecutive Olympic Games and finished just off the podium with a fourth place finish in trampoline. The Toronto native has collected an Olympic bronze in Sydney 2000 to go along with silvers in Athens 2004 and 2008, where she was selected Canada’s flag bearer at the Closing Ceremony.
A rowing veteran on the international scene, David Calder competed in his fourth consecutive Olympic Games in 2012. Calder and partner Scott Frandsen finished in sixth place in the men’s coxless pairs event in London.
