“Call Me Maybe” tribute released online
TORONTO – Canada’s favourite team this summer performs Canada’s biggest summer hit in a new online digital short, released today.
Members of the 2012 Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Teams took time during last week’s wildly successful Heroes Tour to sing along to Carly Rae Jepsen’s mega-hit “Call Me Maybe”. The short was shot on location as athletes travelled from Ottawa to Toronto aboard a special VIA train and during the Olympic Heroes Parade in downtown Toronto.
The short, featuring appearances by dozens of Canadian Olympians and Paralympians, as well as a message from Jepsen herself, is now available online at: http://www.youtube.com/user/CanadianOlympicTeam.
“From the athletes’ point of view, we thought this would be a great idea,” said 2012 Olympic gold medallist Rosie MacLennan. “It was such a fun thing to be a part of and a great way to celebrate all the activities on the Heroes Tour.”
“Shooting the video was a lot of fun,” said four-time Olympic medallist Adam van Koeverden. “We all came together as a team in London and this was the perfect way to show people a side of the team that no one gets to see.”
“This digital short is a great way to commemorate three days of athlete excellence,” said Derek Kent, the Canadian Olympic Team’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We created it as a tribute to our Olympic and Paralympic athletes and to give fans an easy way to engage with them socially. Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian Olympic Team fan and it’s exciting to have her support.”
The Heroes Parade was presented by Gold Partners Bombardier, Maple Leaf Sports + Entertainment, RBC, Teck and Thomson Reuters.
