Wykes and Dugrenier give back to families in need
OTTAWA – Canadian Olympians Dylan Wykes and Martine Dugrenier donated their time to the Ottawa Food Bank today, unpacking, sorting and boxing donated food that will be distributed to various agencies and families for the Thanksgiving holidays.
“This is the time of year where you want to help those who are less fortunate,” said Marathon runner Dylan Wykes. “There are plenty of people who need a helping hand and every little bit helps.”
“It’s important to support your community,” said two-time Olympic wrestler Martine Dugrenier. “We athletes are so grateful to be able to travel and experience so much as we compete. To be able to brighten someone else’s Thanksgiving holiday is a great honour.”
The Ottawa Food Bank was founded in the basement of the former police station on Waller Street in 1984. Originally intended to be temporary in nature, the Ottawa Food Bank has grown to become a staple food relief organization in the Region. The Food Bank’s mission is to collect and distribute food to Member Agencies serving people in need in the Ottawa area, working so no one in the Ottawa area goes hungry.
