Athlete of the Week: Christine Sinclair
She captured the imagination and the hearts of Canadians with an incredible performance at London 2012. Now Christine Sinclair is wowing crowds south of the border with her play in the newly formed National Women’s Soccer League. This week, the national team captain was recently named the inaugural Player of the Month in the NWSL for April.
Playing for the Portland Thorns, Sinclair scored twice and was featured in all 270 minutes played in the league’s opening month of regular season action. Thorns FC posted a perfect record of 3W-0D-0L in April.
Canadians can catch Sinclair and the rest of the national team in action on June 2nd when they face the USA in Toronto in a rematch of last year’s Olympic semifinal.
