Taekwondo names team to fight for Pan Am gold
Four fighters ranked top 10 in the world will lead the Taekwondo Canada contingent at the Pan Am Games this summer in Toronto.
On the men’s side, Marc-Andre Bergeron (+80kg class) and Maxime Potvin (68kg) are highly touted, sitting at 10th and ninth in the world, respectively. Rounding out the men’s team are Tyler Muscat (58kg) and Christopher Iliesco (80kg).

Yvette Yong (49kg) is eighth in the world and Ashley Kraayeveld (67kg) is ranked ninth on the women’s side. Evelyn Gonda (57kg) and Nathalie Iliesco (67kg) complete the roster.
Canada won two gold medals and a bronze at the previous Pan Am Games in Guadalajara. One of the Pan Am titles came from Gonda’s older sister, Ivett.
