Logan Thompson
Biography
Logan Thompson is set to make his Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026. His only previous international experience was at the 2022 IIHF World Championship. He started four games before suffering an injury, leaving him to watch as Canada took silver following an overtime loss to Finland in the final.
Thompson won the Stanley Cup with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023. He had signed with the club in 2020 after going undrafted. He made his first NHL start in January 2022. He spent three seasons with Vegas before being traded to the Washington Capitals in June 2024.
Thompson played junior hockey with Brandon in the WHL. He helped the Wheat Kings win the WHL Championship title in 2016. In 2017 was named to the WHL Second All-Star Team.
While he was undrafted by an NHL team, Thompson decided to attend Brock University where he made an impact in his lone season of U Sports competition. He was named the OUA West conference Goaltender and Rookie of the Year in 2018-19.
He then turned pro, playing in the ECHL with Adirondack and South Carolina before finally landing his NHL contract. He spent his first year with Vegas’ AHL team in Henderson and had another award-winning season in 2020-21. He was named the AHL’s Outstanding Goaltender after leading the league in save percentage and was selected to the Division All-Star Team and AHL All-Rookie Team.
