Tim Powers
Tim Powers, originally from St. John’s, NL, is the Chair of Summa Strategies, a leading Canadian public affairs consulting firm, and the Managing Director of Abacus Data, an opinion research company, both headquartered in Ottawa.
Currently, Tim serves on the boards of Memorial University (Chair, University Benefits Committee), and the Jack Purcell Recreation Association. He is also a Class B member of the Canadian Olympic Committee, and the Chair of Rugby Canada’s Lifetime Achievement Award committee and he coaches a youth competitive hockey team.
Tim is a past Chairperson of Rugby Canada, Past Lead Director of the Park Lawn Corporation, a former trustee at the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH), and former of Melanoma Canada.
Tim has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, a Master of Arts degree from St. Mary’s University, and a Master of Sciences degree from the London School of Economics. Mr. Powers has also studied Public Sector Management, Alternative Investing, and Sustainable Investing at Harvard University. He also has an ICD.D designation.
Tim is also a Boston Marathon finisher having completed the 126th Boston Marathon in April 2022. He represented Canada for 2 seasons in U21 age grade rugby.
