Aubrey Ireland, Jr. was named the Canadian team for Tokyo 1940 but his opportunity was aborted when the Games were cancelled due to World War II.
A talented paddler, Ireland, Jr. was the only man to win the Canadian C-1 singles championships three years in succession (1949, 1950, 1951), his father having won the same title twice before him.
A member of the Island Canoe Club on Centre Island in Toronto, Ireland, Jr., was named to the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1953.
