Canadian Tire Jumpstart
Champions of Community. Champions of Play.
Founded in 2005, Jumpstart helps kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation.
As a partner of Canadian Tire, the Canadian Olympic Committee is proud to support organizations which give young people across Canada access to play and stay in sport.
Empowering Every Kid to Play
Sports and physical activity are proven ways to boost kids’ self-worth, confidence, and overall mental health. Playing on a team can help kids work together, feel included, and build friendships that will last a lifetime, and getting active can help kids stay positive in school, improve their grades, and be driven to achieve their goals.
Championing Gender Equity in Sport
Keeping girls involved in sport and their communities has always been a point of passion for Jumpstart Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Martha Billes. Studies have repeatedly shown that girls drop out of sports at a much higher rate than boys, and we know that together we have the power to change that. By providing opportunities for girls to stay engaged in sport, Jumpstart helps girls grow their confidence, build relationships, and become strong leaders in their communities.
Creating A More Inclusive Canada
Jumpstart is committed to building a Canada where every kid can access sport and play. Too many kids are left on the sidelines due to barriers such as a lack of adapted sport programs or inaccessible play spaces. Jumpstart is championing inclusive play, encouraging positive change across the country to help break down the barriers.
