FLASH QUOTES:
Note: Flash quotes to be updated as they become available.
Johnathan CABRAL
On the rain:
“I’ve actually been in a race where it was sunshine, rain, hail and snow within a minute.”
“I knew it was raining. There was nothing I could do. No matter how much I complained, it’s still going to rain.”
“The main thing that I realised during that race was it was kind of getting in my eyes a bit, and it threw me off on some of the hurdles, but nothing that any hurdler at this level can’t adapt to.”
Frederic WINTERS
On the match:
“It is nice to beat a really good team as Italy. We could control our destiny with a win so it was a lot of pressure for us. And they had no pressure, because they won the group. But we played really well and focused, mainly in the first and second set.”
On Canada’s potential quarterfinal opponent:
“Actually we played Poland and Argentina a lot. So I prefer playing against one of those two teams. The good thing is that we are familiar with the teams we are going to face. I do not want to say which one I prefer, they are all good.”
Gavin SCHMITT
On Canada’s aim:
“Our objective is just to keep going. We want a medal. We are not here for doing tourism. We are going to see how far we can go.”
