Four prominent First Nations, City of Vancouver, Resort Municipality of Whistler, Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee to Unveil Games Hosting Concept
Media Conference and Technical Briefing set for June 14 in Whistler
WHISTLER (June 10, 2022) – The Lil̓wat7úl (Líl̓wat), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish) and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations, together with partners at the City of Vancouver, Resort Municipality of Whistler, Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee, invite media to a ceremony to mark the end of the Feasibility Phase of the project to assess bringing the Games back to British Columbia. The media event will be held at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre in Whistler, B.C., June 14 at 9 a.m. PT. Following Indigenous protocols, the feasibility team will present the Games hosting concept to the Nations who invited them to do this work.
After the ceremony, media are invited to join technical leads from each of the Four Host First Nations, and members of the feasibility team, for a briefing on the development of the Games hosting concept and an opportunity to ask questions.
