LA 2028 Press accreditation registration portal open for Canadian media and non-rights holding broadcast organizations

TORONTO (September 1, 2026) – The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is accepting expressions of interest for press accreditation to the LA 2028 Olympic Games. 

Canadian press and non-rights holding broadcast media outlets are invited to submit their expressions of interest for these accreditation categories through the International Olympic Committee’s portal here by October 23, 2026. 

Please submit one E,EP and one ENR expression of interest form per organization, if applicable. Late submissions will not be considered.

Due to the limited quota of accreditations allocated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), selection criteria will be applied. The accreditation process is managed by the IOC in consultation with the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), with consideration given to an organization’s national scope in terms of coverage, readership/circulation, previous history in attending and covering Games, representation and linguistic equity.

Media that have been granted press accreditation will be contacted by early December 2026, while those granted ENR/non-MRH accreditation will be notified by the end of February 2027.

Accreditation category definitions:

Journalist (E): Journalist/reporter/editor/photographic editor/digital journalist, employed or contracted by a world news agency, a national news agency, a general daily newspaper, a sports daily, a magazine or periodical; website or independent/ freelance journalist under contract.

Photographer (EP): Photographer, meeting the same criteria as those defined by category “E”.

Non-Rights Holding Media (ENR): Non-Media Rights-Holders radio or television organization (non-MRH). ENR accreditations are only allocated by the IOC in consultation with the NOC. It is strictly prohibited for an NOC to grant a member of a non-MRH organisation any type of E category accreditation. 

Sport Specific Journalist (Es): Journalist specialising in a sport on the Olympic Games programme, meeting the same criteria as those defined for category “E”.  The Es accreditation will include access to all disciplines of that sport.

Sport-Specific Photographer (EPs): Photographer specialising in a sport on the Olympic Games programme, meeting the same criteria as those defined for category “E”.  The EPs accreditation will include access to all disciplines of that sport.

Note that the following (non-exhaustive list of) individuals and entities are not eligible for press accreditation:

• Publishers and marketing personnel
• Athlete management companies
• Individuals representing athletes
• Personnel from the following organizations: advertising, public relations and promotion agencies, commercial partners associated with NOCs, and government ministries or organizations
