Maggie Mac Neil chosen as member of Team Panam Sports for Santiago 2023
TORONTO (July 6, 2023) — On Thursday, Panam Sports announced the 11 new members of Team Panam Sports who will act as ambassadors for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) applauds the selection of Olympic champion and three-time Olympic medallist in swimming Maggie Mac Neil.
Mac Neil, who was awarded Best Female Athlete of Tokyo 2020 in October 2021 by the Association of National Olympic Committees, was named to Team Canada’s Santiago 2023 swimming team in April. It will be her first appearance at the Pan American Games.
The COC issued the following statement following the Panam Sports announcement (found here):
“Congratulations to Maggie on this honour. She’s an amazing athlete and role model, and we’re incredibly proud of all she has achieved. We are excited to watch Maggie and the rest of Team Canada compete in Santiago in just over 100 days.”
