SOCHI 2014 CANADIAN OLYMPIC SKI JUMPING TEAM ANNOUNCED
Teck and Canadian Olympic Committee unveil commemorative rings for 2014 Canadian Olympic Team
VANCOUVER – Ski Jumping Canada today announced their seven athletes who are formally nominated onto the Ski Jumping Team for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The four men: Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes, Dusty Korek, Trevor Morrice and Matthew Rowley and three women: Atsuko Tanaka, Alexandra Pretorius and Taylor Henrich were nominated during an announcement at the Robson Square Ice Rink in Vancouver.
The Ski Jumping Team were also the first to see the commemorative rings that will be given to Canadian Olympic Team athletes and coaches participating in the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games by Canadian resource company Teck, in partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee.
“I have lost count of how many jumps I have done leading up to this point,” Atsuko Tanaka. “But every jump got me one step closer to my goal and that was to make the Sochi 2014 Canadian Olympic Team and I couldn’t be more proud to represent my country in Russia.”
“It truly is the most indescribable feeling knowing you will represent your nation on the world stage,” Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes. “I want to thank all my supporters and fans who have helped me get here – I promise I will do my best to reach the podium in Sochi for you.”
Canada’s ski jumping team is set to bring an emerging group of exceptional athletes to Sochi,” said Marcel Aubut, President, Canadian Olympic Committee. “Congratulations to each one of ski jumping athletes nominated onto the Team. We have phenomenal talent onboard as we head into Sochi and Canada are ready to cheer on its ski jumpers.”
The Canadian Olympic Committee and Teck, a proud national partner, have worked together to design and produce exclusive Canadian Olympic Rings. The commemorative rings, which feature the official Canadian Olympic Team logo will be presented to the 2014 and 2016 Canadian Olympic Team athletes and coaches.

The International Ski Federation (FIS) have determined that the allocation of quotas will be based on the Olympic Quota Allocation List, published on January 20, 2014. The Olympic Quota Allocation List is calculated using the FIS World Cup and Grand Prix standings, followed by the Continental Cup standings from both the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons added together. The allocation will be made by assigning one quota place per competitor from the top of the rankings downwards until the total of 60 male and 30 female competitors is reached. Ski Jumping Canada have identified in the Internal Nomination Procedure that the athlete who earns the quota spot will be selected for the Canadian Olympic Ski Jumping Team.
The Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games will take place from February 7-23, 2014. The Canadian Olympic Team has set a goal to contend to be the top nation in overall medals won.

These seven ski jumpers now join 27 speed skaters, 10 curling athletes, 16 bobsledders, eight lugers, four skeleton athletes, 21 women hockey players, eight biathletes, 24 snowboarders, 25 men hockey players, three male alpine skiers, 17 figure skaters, 11 cross-country skiers, three women alpine skiers and 20 freestyle skiers as the next members on the Canadian Olympic Team. One more team will be announced between now and February.
