CANADIAN FIGURE SKATERS SELECTED FOR NEW TEAM EVENT IN SOCHI

SOCHI, RUSSIA – Today, Skate Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee released the first two entries for the inaugural Olympic Winter Games figure skating team event.

Patrick Chan (Toronto, ON) will compete in the men’s short program.

Meagan Duhamel (Lively, ON) and Eric Radford (Balmertown, ON) will skate the pair short program.

Entries for the ice dance and ladies short programs will be announced on February 7. The pair free program skaters will be announced on February 8 and the men’s, women’s, and ice dance free competitors will be announced on February 9.

There are 10 countries in the team event. Each consists of one man, one woman, one pair and one ice dance couple. A country is allowed two substitutions in entries between the short and free programs.
