Santiago 2023: Team Canada at the end of Day 4
SANTIAGO, CHILE (October 24, 2023) – Team Canada added eight gold, five silver and five bronze to its medal total on Day 4 at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. Here is what you need to know.

DAY 3 HIGHLIGHTS:
- Cycling – Track:
- Canada won two team sprint medals: gold in the men’s event, and bronze in women’s event.

- Diving:
- Pamela Ware (Greenfield Park. Que.) captured gold in the women’s 3m springboard. Ware already qualified Canada a quota spot in the event for Paris 2024 at the World Aquatics Championships earlier this year where she won the bronze medal. This was Ware’s second gold medal of the Games. She also topped the podium in the women’s 1m springboard event on Day 2.

- Gymnastics – Artistic:
- Félix Dolci (Laval, Que.) won his second gold medal in two days, this time in the men’s floor exercise event. This was Canada’s first Pan Am Games gold in the men’s floor exercise since 2003. He finished the night by capturing bronze in men’s rings, his fourth medal at Santiago 2023.
- Team Canada had two athletes atop the podium in men’s pommel horse, with Zachary Clay (Chilliwack, B.C.) taking gold and Jayson Rampersad (Oakville, Ont.) taking silver. Clay is Canada’s first ever Pan Am Games gold medallist in the event.
- Racquetball:
- Coby Iwaasa (Lethbridge, Alta.) and Samuel Murray (Baie-Comeau, Que.) won silver in the men’s doubles final. The duo placed fifth at Lima 2019 in the same event.

- Rowing:
- The women’s eight took gold for Canada’s first medal of Day 4. This is the first time the event has been on the Pan Am Games program.

- Sport Climbing:
- Alannah Yip (North Vancouver, B.C.) made history by capturing Canada’s first-ever sport climbing medal at a major Games. Yip won bronze in the women’s boulder & lead combined event as sport climbing made its Pan Am Games debut at Santiago 2023.

- Swimming:
- Canadian swimmers won another five medals to Team Canada’s tally on Day 4.
- Maggie Mac Neil (London, Ont.) added to her medal haul with another gold, this time in the women’s 50m freestyle. She now has six medals at Santiago 2023 including four gold. Mac Neil is the fourth Canadian athlete to earn four gold medals at a single Pan Am Games.
- Julie Brousseau (Ottawa, Ont.) captured gold in the women’s 400m individual medley while Collyn Gagne (Milton, Ont.) earned silver in the men’s 400m individual medley.
- Team Canada won bronze in both the men’s and women’s 4x200m freestyle relay events.
- Water Ski/Wakeboard
- Team Canada wrapped up its competition in water ski/wakeboard with a total of nine medals.
- In water ski, Dorien Llewellyn (Innisfail, Alta.) won gold in men’s overall while Paige Rini (Winter Garden, Florida) took silver in women’s overall. Llewellyn’s father Jaret holds the record for the most Pan Am Games gold medals won by a Canadian (seven).
- Hunter Smith (North Vancouver, B.C.) took silver in men’s wakeboard.
