Abby Dent

Biography

Abby Dent was a member of the women’s eight that won gold at the 2024 World Rowing Cup II in Lucerne, Switzerland. Dent was called upon at the last minute to move into the stroke seat due to a teammate’s illness. 

A gold medallist in the women’s eight and silver medallist in the women’s pair at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, Dent made her World Rowing Cup debut in 2023, placing fourth in the B final with the women’s four in Lucerne. 

Dent represented Canada at the World Rowing U23 Championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023 with the highlight being a fifth-place finish in the women’s four in 2023. She also competed in the single sculls at the 2019 World Junior Rowing Championships where she advanced to the A final and finished sixth. 

Dent competes collegiately for the University of Michigan. As a junior in 2023, she was named the Big10 Rower of the Year as the Wolverines won the conference title for the second time in her tenure.

While still in high school, she won gold in the junior women’s single sculls and the U19 women’s double sculls at the 2018 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta.
