Felix Dolci

Biography

Félix Dolci has entered his name in the Canadian gymnastics history books several times during his relatively short career. 

In 2018, he became the first Canadian to win a men’s gymnastics medal at the Youth Olympic Games when he won silver on rings and also qualified for the all-around final. In 2019, at the very first FIG Junior World Championships, he became Canada’s first-ever junior world champion when he won gold on rings. He captured silver on floor at the same competition and finished just off the podium in fourth place in the all-around competition. Earlier that year, he had become the most decorated athlete in the history of the Canada Games with 11 career medals. He won four gold and two silver in 2019, adding to the two gold and three silver he won in 2015 when he was just 12 years old.

Since joining the senior ranks in 2020, Dolci’s star has continued to rise. At the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, he became the first Canadian in 60 years to win the men’s all-around competition. It was one of five medals in won in Santiago, also bringing home gold in the floor exercise, silver in the team event, and bronze on rings and vault.

This was fresh off a stellar performance by the Canadian men’s team at the 2023 FIG World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium where they placed fourth in qualification to secure their team spot for Paris 2024 and then finished seventh in the team final. Dolci also qualified for two apparatus finals, floor exercise and horizontal bar, finishing fifth and eighth, respectively. It was the first time he had qualified for an apparatus final since making his senior worlds debut in 2021. 

A Little More About Félix

Getting into the Sport: Started artistic gymnastics at age 5 and began competing in 2009… His parents had tried to get him interested in hockey and soccer but he needed a sport in which he could exert all of his energy… Outside Interests: Enjoys playing video games, fishing, water skiing… Odds and Ends: Role model is Japanese gymnastics legend Kohei Uchimura… Favourite motto: Train hard or go home!
