James Hedgcock

Biography

James Hedgcock won gold in the men’s team sprint at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games alongside Tyler Rorke and Nick Wammes. He just missed the podium in the men’s keirin, placing fourth in the final. Just a few months prior, he had won gold with Rorke and Wammes in the men’s team sprint at the 2023 Pan American Championships where Hedgcock also won gold in the non-Olympic 1km time trial and took bronze in the keirin. 

Hedgcock made his UCI Nations Cup debut in May 2022 in Milton, Ontario. At the home velodrome in 2023, he finished fourth in the keirin and the team sprint. He finally earned his first Nations Cup medal in April 2024 when he, Rorke, and Ryan Dodyk won team sprint bronze in Milton, which secured Canada’s Olympic qualification in the event for Paris 2024. 

Hedgcock competed at the UCI Track World Championships in 2022 and 2023, competing in the team sprint and keirin. In 2022, he also posted a top-8 finish in the 1km time trial. 

Hedgcock won four gold medals (keirin, sprint, team sprint, 1km time trial) at the 2023 Canadian Track Cycling Championships and successfully defended all but the team sprint title in 2024. 

Hedgcock grew up competing in BMX racing and represented Canada in the junior division at the 2018 and 2019 UCI World Championships.
