Josip Brusic
Biography
Josip Brusic is set to make his Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026. He came to the world of skeleton after starting his athletic journey in track and field. Specializing in the sprints, he developed the speed and explosiveness that would later benefit him on the ice track.
After encouragement from a track and field coach, Brusic attended a skeleton scouting camp in Edmonton and soon began training at the Ice House in Calgary, where from his runs he was drawn by the precision and speed of the sport.
Brusic began competing internationally in December 2023 on the North American Cup circuit. He became the Junior Pan American champion in March 2024. He earned his first medal on the North American Cup circuit in November 2024.
Brusic made his debut on the IBSF World Cup circuit in January 2025 in St. Moritz. He competed at the 2025 IBSF Junior World Championships where he finished fourth in the mixed team event with Hallie Clarke. In November 2025, he became the senior Pan American champion. He finished second in the North American Cup standings in 2025-26 after earning three podium finishes.
Brusic became a Canadian citizen in October 2024, 10 years after immigrating from Croatia with his family.
