Athlete of the week: Emily Batty

Emily Batty Emily Batty finished third at the most recent UCI Mountain Bike World Cup stop in Val di Sole, Italy, putting her in fifth place in the overall World Cup cross-country standings after three of six events this year. The timing could not have gotten any better as she celebrated her 25th birthday the very next day.

Up next for Batty will be the Canadian Mountain Bike Championships on July 20, just north of Barrie, Ontario. The next World Cup stop is July 27 in Vallnord, Andorra followed by the only Canadian stop on the circuit in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec on August 10. That all comes in advance of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships on August 31 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, the site of Batty’s first World Cup podium finish in March 2012.
