Bid for 2015 Pan Am Games Officially Launched

Energy flowed on Exhibition Grounds in Toronto yesterday as politicians and officials emphatically endorsed the Greater Golden Horseshoe’s bid for the 2015 Pan American Games.

Bid Chairman (and former premier) David Peterson joined COC president Mike Chambers, Ontario Minister of Health Promotion Margarett Best and Toronto Mayor David Miller in leading the launch. They made it clear that Toronto and its surrounding cities will go after the 2015 Pan Am Games eagerly. The official logo for Toronto 2015 was unveiled in front of the packed house that featured fencing, trampoline and rhythmic gymnastics demonstrations.

Ontario will compete with Bogota, Caracas and Lima for the honour. The final decision is expected next fall. Around that time, we will learn whether Ontario will host a major international games for the first time in 78 years.
